Scripture: 1 Samuel.30:1-20[NKJV]

David’s Conflict with the Amalekites

30 Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire, 2 and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. 3 So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. 4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. 5 And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. 6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.

7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. 8 So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?”

And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”

9 So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the Brook Besor, where those stayed who were left behind. 10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men; for two hundred stayed behind, who were so weary that they could not cross the Brook Besor.

11 Then they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David; and they gave him bread and he ate, and they let him drink water. 12 And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. So when he had eaten, his strength came back to him; for he had eaten no bread nor drunk water for three days and three nights. 13 Then David said to him, “To whom do you belong, and where are you from?”

And he said, “I am a young man from Egypt, servant of an Amalekite; and my master left me behind, because three days ago I fell sick. 14 We made an invasion of the southern area of the Cherethites, in the territory which belongs to Judah, and of the southern area of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.”

15 And David said to him, “Can you take me down to this troop?”

So he said, “Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will take you down to this troop.”

16 And when he had brought him down, there they were, spread out over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah. 17 Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled. 18 So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and David rescued his two wives. 19 And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all. 20 Then David took all the flocks and herds they had driven before those other livestock, and said, “This is David’s spoil.”

As human beings we have lost out a lot to the devil. One needS to advise what they would have lost in order to recover. If you lose property and do not go out and claim it or make a report that you lost property you might never recover your stolen property. As Christians we have lost a lot to the devil. We are living way below the standard God wants us to be on. The devil uses various ways to steal from us and he normally does it after an event. Many girls have lost their virginity after parties, HIV spread after most partying events. Most people’s lives have been altered by the devil because we were not aware.
We alter our children’s destiny by our world we speak negatively and pronounce curses on them because we focus on where they are failing instead of focusing on their strengths. Everyone has weaknesses but you need to focus on their strength and confess those to avoid altering their future.

1 Samuel 30: 1-22
It is in the attitude of the enemy that when he attacks he does to kill. Never underestimate poverty because it will destroy you. You might be given USD 1million but if you have the poverty spirit that money will count to nothing. In the scripture David was about to be stoned because he is the one who had taken people to war and left Ziklag unguarded.

David strengthened himself in God despite being faced with such a situation. The people cried till their strength was finished but they did not get a solution out of it. If you are crying you do not make proper decisions. David did not cry and remained with strength hence he enquired of the Lord and the Lord told him to pursue.

We are going to pursue and we are going to overtake and we shall recover all. Whatsoever you lost to the devil shall be restored back to you. The Amalekites left an Egyptian as they had crossed the river. David was quick to identify the Egyptian blessor. A blessor is not necessary someone with money but it could be someone with information. If you fail to see someone who is supposed to bless you then you are robbed of your blessing and remain poor. God operates in funny ways do not underestimate people.

The bible says men shall put to your bosom. You are poor because you do not know the man who is supposed to be put to your bosom. Your eyes need to be opened so that you see who is supposed to placed to your bosom. After David had identified his blessor he fed him first and he recovered from the sickness he was suffering from. After his recovery that was when he disclosed the information on what had transpired in Ziklag without even being asked. He then discovered that other people other than Ziklag area had been robbed of their blessings and had not made any efforts to recover.

The fact that you have lost does not mean that you should give up you have to rise every time you fall. You ought to fight in order to attract your blessor. You should not be too quick to judge people and push them away because you do not know the one responsible for your blessing. You might think that you have lost or might have lost but be rest assured that what you lost is safe for you are going to recover all. He recovered all because God had told him to pursue, overtake and he would recover.

When God speaks the wise listen. You have lost a lot to the devil but you are going to recover all. That promotion, that business deal, that child, that money and literally everything you lost will be given back to you. David recovered all but he did not only recover what he had been robbed off but he recover goods other tribes had lost as well as what the Amalekites had as well.

Restoration is more powerful than the initial blessing because it comes with extras. Zacchaeus stole from people but when he paid them back he gave them 4 times more. Salvation has come upon this house because there is restoration. Restoration is coming to you. You were not guarding Ziklag and that is how the devil gained entry to your life. You shall not fail there is going to be restoration in your life.

We give all glory to God.
